6 full days and 7 nights WhereĪrrive to Anchorage, Alaska (ANC) and travel to locations including Turnagain Arm, Chugach State Park, Matanuska-Susitna Valley, helicopter off the road system to remote glaciers & lakes, Talkeetna & Chugach Mountains and return to Anchorage Highlights The trip is very conducive to non-photographer spouses/partners joining to enjoy the bountiful and spectacular natural scenes. Due to the group’s reduced size, the individual needs of each participant will be given proper attention. This Alaskan photo tour is perfect for advanced beginners, intermediate and advanced photographers. This trip will take you to unique, off-the-beaten path locations. Your photo guide, professional photographer Jeff Schultz, has lived in Alaska for over 40 years and has been the official photographer of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race since 1982. Jeff is not there to make his own photographs…he is there to ensure you get to make your Alaskan dream shots, make your time safe and enjoyable and teach you additional good photography practices. While in the field and in the several classroom instruction sessions, Jeff will teach you methods he’s learned in his 40+ years as a professional photographer to help you take your landscape and night-sky photography to the next level. This is not just a photo “tour” but a photo tour and workshop. In early April, the daylight is increasing over 5-minutes each day and much warmer than our long-dark winter days.

This tour and workshop is timed when Alaska’s temperatures are warming and the frozen water has been thawing. Conditions permitting, the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) will appear and participants get to see and photograph this. Though not guaranteed, we will watch and seek out opportunities for photographing moose and Dall sheep.Įach night, weather & appropriate conditions permitting, we will do night-sky photography of a star-studded sky with incredible mountain scenery. We’ll also do spring snow-scape photography in the mountains of Alaska.

We’ll land and walk to these behemoth, intricate-patterned bergs. On two separate days, we’ll fly in a helicopter, with the doors off, to photograph aerials of stranded icebergs, glaciers and snow-capped mountains. We will photograph the pan-ice tide movements of Turnagain Arm, with the third highest tides in the world.
